Beginner Version – Happy Birthday – Slow Speed
If you follow the Guitar Pro or the PDF file of this song in the lesson plan, it should be played just like this. This video is very true to the notation or tablature that is in the lesson.
I didn’t want to play this song too slow as it would be easy to “lose” the song at a slower playing speed. If you wish to start out slower than this video, I suggest you load the Guitar Pro File of Happy Birthday. You can then set the speed to your liking and use the Guitar Pro Speed Trainer to gain additional tempo speed.
Some things to watch in this video. Notice how the chords (or triads) are played very smoothly, just as if they were a single note. To do this you must memorize each 3 note chord and practice it separately, changing between chords by moving your left hand fingers all at once. If the triad is 3 open strings, that gives you some time to get ready for the next triad. Always look for these little bits of time or a window of time, available to you, like open strings are, to prepare for the next notes.
The next video of this song is played at a medium speed. The song gets quite a bit more difficult at this speed and you have to have it very will practiced to do it at this tempo.
