Kids Guitar Lessons:
These Kids Guitar Lessons were developed and born out of necessity. I have an 8 year-old girl that developed a sudden interest in learning the guitar just before Christmas.

I really didn’t ever push lessons on the kids, especially guitar lessons on kids that young. Buy you know what? If they develop an interest in it and you don’t address that interest, in a few weeks or months it may pass.

Kids Guitar Lessons – Questions You Should Ask Your Child:
There are questions in the back of a parents’ mind when a child is interested in a new endeavor such as:

  • If we make an investment in this are you going to stick with it?
  • Are you going to be devoted to a set practice regimen?
  • Are you willing to spend time over and above you homework computer and friends time?
  • Of coarse I realize that some of these questions are really questions that an 8 year old can’t answer with any certainty and we as parents have to take a risk here.

Will This Thing Just Collect Cobwebs?

If I buy him/her a nice starter guitar for $150 – $200 is it going to be a hot item for 2 weeks and then set in the corner with numerous other fancy electronic toys, games etc?

I know that I asked myself that question and my wife and I discussed this issue at length.

We decided that there are a lot of other less useful and higher priced items that we gambled on than this and the possibilities of this challenge could bring a rich-full life of music to our daughters life.

Another thing that we decided to do this year for Christmas is provide a budget for each of our 3 daughters. We looked at past years of giving and then stare in the closet in wonderment at the toys that are never touched again 2 weeks after Christmas.

So we decided to make this one of two rather larger gifts to our 8 year-old.

Here is an article on Searching For The Perfect Kids Guitar, that describes our guitar search and how we arrived at our final decision.

With the purchase of a new guitar, I knew we were going to have to make a decision on guitar lessons. Now I am sort of a veteran at this teaching business, since I gave guitar lessons for about 14 years, so I though why not try to teach her myself.

As every teacher knows, the hardest pupil you can have is one of your close family members. So I sat down with my computer and developed some lesson plans that were very clear, interesting and would keep my daughters’ interest and we would both be rewarded – so and away we went.

I think it was after our second lesson when Olivia said to me, “why don’t you publish the lessons you make for me on the on your web site, so other kids can learn from you too?” I developed the web site, Ultimate Guitar OnLIne and get quite a bit of traffic, but I decided not to put another layer on lessons on that site. So I deciced to start a dedicated Blog for kids and just for kids.

So enjoy what I have come up with and look for new lesson materials and much more every week. Track Olivia’s progress and have your kids play along.

How to Navigate On This Site:
Blogs can be very confusing to navigate, so I have published a couple of handy come up with a few different ways for you to easily get around on this site. First to get directly to the weekly lesson materials, just click on the “Kids Guitar Lessons” tab at the top of every page.

You also can go to the “Table of Contents” tab, which will list all the article on the site, including lesson plans, related lesson materials and miscellaneous stuff like music tests and terms.

Finally you can search not only this site, buy all four of our guitar related sites by typing in a search term in the search box on the right labeled “Search Our Guitar Sites”.
